assemblies
and nuts are shown for illustration purposes only and not included in the sale.
Design
These wrenches are purpose-built for removing and installing the flush valve nut securing the flush valve to the tank on many residential two-piece toilets. The socket applies uniform pressure around the nut to avoid damaging the nut or valve body, and ensures the tank seal is compressed evenly during installation. The sturdy handle provides plenty of leverage to remove old crusty tank valve nuts, and easily tightens the nut to properly compress the new tank seal. Save yourself time, frustration, and extra trips to the hardware store. These wrenches make it easy to perform a quick, leak-free, replacement of a flush valve or tank seal.
Construction Material
There are two materials available:
1. Expanded polyvinyl chloride (“PVC”) plastic is lightweight and relatively
inexpensive.
This material is durable, light-weight, and naturally resists water, mold, and insects. It won’t splinter, rot, delaminate, or swell.
The PVC wrenches are best suited for occasional use by a homeowner.
2. Marine-grade high density polyethylene (“HDPE”) polymer plastic is
extremely
durable. It has all the characteristics of PVC and more. Simply put, you’re not going to break it!
The HDPE wrenches are well suited for frequent use by a professional plumber.
All wrenches are milled from a single piece of material. No joints, ribs, or flashing. The HDPE wrenches have their outer edges rounded for user comfort.
Starting mid-May 2021, some of the PVC products will be transitioned to 1/4-inch thick HDPE. The drop-down menu of variants is accurate. The photos will be updated soon.
Fitment
The wrench sizes refer to the measured distance across the nut/socket flats. Compatibility with certain toilet brands can be difficult to determine before disassembly. Be aware that manufactureres typically refer to their flush valve sizes in nominal values. For example, Kohler has what they call “3-inch” flush valves which really have 3 1/8-inch inside diameter, and use a 4.0-inch flush valve nut. Other manufacturers use "3-inch" flush valves which are different dimensional sizes, and use different flush valve nut sizes (thus requiring a different sized wrench).
Aftermarket flush valves (such as Korky or Fluidmaster) complicate matters further.
Generally speaking
…
Kohler 2-inch
flush valves have a 2.5-inch hexagon-shaped nut. Most other manufacturers use the same nut for their 2-inch flush valves as well. HOWEVER, in some cases the nut may not be a hexagon shape. Instead, it might have wings/lugs on the
outer permiter. I have not determined if my wrench will fit that style of nut as there is a lack of standardization.
Kohler 3-inch
flush valves use a 4.0-inch octagon-shaped nut.
American Standard
3-inch
flush valves currently use a 3.84-inch octagon-shaped nut, but some older models had a 3 9/16-inch (~3.57-inch) nut.
Delta and Toto
3-inch
flush valves currently use a 3.5-inch octagon-shaped nut. The 3.57-inch wrench will also work.
Korky
and
Fluidmaster
3-inch
aftermarket
flush valves have a octagon-shaped nuts that fit the 3.57-inch wrench. The 3.5-inch wrench will NOT work for these.
Gerber
is inconstant and the documentation is poor. You’ll just have to measure yours.
If you have
any
doubt whether you
’
re choosing the the correct tool, please send me a message
BEFORE
placing your order.
I can send you a pdf document of scaled drawings that you can print to confirm the fit prior to shipment.
Unfortunately, Ebay doesn
’
t allow me a way to share that file before your purchase, but I have no problem with you cancelling an order if we determine one of these wrenches isn
’
t going to work for you. In your message, please i
nclude your toilet brand, model or model number, and tank model number if it has one. For Kohler toilets, I usually just need the K-(number) inside the tank. If you have
a Kohler Cimarron or tank K-4634, I
’
ll need all the info you can provide including pictures of the toilet and flush valve assembly.

I designed and built these tools myself after my own frustrating attempt to replace a Kohler toilet tank valve seal. My bare hands, a strap wrench, pipe wrench, channel pliers, and other contraptions proved to be worthless. I couldn’t find a suitable tool for the job no matter where I searched. All the help I got from the big box stores amounted to a shoulder shrug, so I gave up on them and designed this tool from scratch. I’ve performed every functionality and durability test I can think of to ensure it meets your expectations.
My customers’ satisfaction is paramount.
If you find an application where it fails you, tell me about it. I welcome your feedback and I’m committed to improving the products.
