    Description

    This Stallion 45 cap pistol
is die cast with triple-plated nickel finish, unique gold tone ‘notched’ cylinder and hammer, with custom Forster Gold (bronze) highlighted scrollwork. The notched cylinder identifies it as one of the first made in Pasadena, Texas at the original Nichols Industries plant. “Pasadena, Texas USA ”is stamped underneath the barrel. The light gold tone cylinder and hammer may be a ‘one-of-a-kind’ Nichols brothers’ experiment, as their son/nephew, collector Mike Nichols, has never seen or heard of another like it. The plastic, pearlescent, ivory grips have a red plastic ruby on either side with a longhorn steer’s head on the right grip and a rearing stallion on the left – no cracks, chips or scratches. The Stallion 45 was the finest, most realistic cap pistol ever made when introduced at the 1950 New York Toy Fair and garnered “Toy of the Year” honors. The 12-inch long cap gun is closely patterned after the Colt 45 Peacemaker, and comes with just 1 original two-piece, zinc alloy and brass cartridge and 5brass casings. The loading gate and spring-action, ejector rod work perfectly. The cylinder rotates when the trigger is pulled and the hammer strikes hard. This double-action cap gun weighs 1.2 lbs. TheStallion 45
was the finest, most realistic cap pistol ever made when introduced in 1950. This rare, double-action 12-inch revolver was one of the first manufactured by Nichols Industries, Inc., Pasadena, Texas, identified by its ‘notched’ cylinder. It has triple-plated chrome finish, unique gold tone cylinder and gold tone hammer with custom “gold” (bronze) inlayed scrollwork. The gold tone cylinder and hammer were no doubt a Nichols brothers’ experiment as their son/nephew and collector, Mike Nichols, has never seen or heard of another like it. The plastic, pearlescent ivory grips have a red plastic ruby on either side with a longhorn steer’s head on the right grip and a rearing stallion on the left. Closely patterned after the Colt 45 Peacemaker, the Stallion45’s rotating cylinder can hold 6 two-piece, zinc alloy and brass cartridges. When loaded with round, paper caps and fired, the cap blast pushes its smoke through a narrow tunnel in the zinc bullet and out the barrel. The Stallion 45 is safe because no sparks leave the chamber and all of the smoke is channeled out the nose of the bullet and the barrel. This was a revolution in cap guns and earned the Seal of Approval by Parents Magazine. The new Stallion 45 was an immediate hit with wholesale toy buyers and was named “Toy of the Year” at the 1950 New York Toy Fair – and the Nichols brothers returned to Texas with orders for more than0,000 (approximately .2 million in today’s dollars).
